A Good Citizen

A citizen is a person who is living in a city, town, village,or even a slum of an independent country. When a citizen become an assets for his country, he is considered as a good citizen. Being a good citizen is a blessing to society. A good citizen understands that they are responsible for their country. They respect the traditions, culture, and heritage of their country and maintain social harmony with their fellow citizens. A good citizen never hurts the feelings of others or disturbs the peace in society. They take care of the weak, poor, and needy, always ready to assist them. Loyalty and obedience to society are important aspects of being a good citizen. The primary duty of a good citizen is their loyalty to their country. They are always prepared to sacrifice everything for the sake of their country, obeying laws and respecting the Constitution. They prioritize the needs of their country and are willing to risk their life to protect it. A good citizen has a strong belief in the laws of their country and never breaks them. They support law enforcement in protecting society from those who try to disturb its smooth functioning. A good citizen practices good habits and maintains a clean thought process. They live a simple life, respecting the beliefs of others and being helpful, friendly, unselfish, and humble. They remain alert against the enemies of their country, never engaging in any activities that may aid them. Good citizens take an interest in politics and cast their vote for a candidate who will work hard for the good of the country. A good citizen is confident, brave, and never ill-treats or cheats anyone. They always remain ready to help others, no matter what their profession. Whether a soldier, worker, teacher, or doctor, a good citizen strives to give their best effort, remaining true to their clean actions, words, and deeds. In summary, a good citizen embodies all the qualities worthy of the highest honor.

Mother language means a language which is used after generation in a country. People can express their thoughts, feelings, emotions etc. clearly through mother language. The 21st February is observed as International Mother Language Day. It is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh. Bangladesh was the part of Pakistan before 1971. the mother-tongue of Bangladesh was Bangla. But the Pakistani rulers wanted to make Urdu as the state language of Pakistan ignoring Bangla. The Bangalees cannot tolerate it. On 21 February 1952, the language movement took place. Many people died on that day. In order to show honour to the language martyrs UNESCO declared this day as the International Mother Language Day on the 17th November, 1999. Now all the member countries of UNO celebrate the day every year. Every year on this day people go to the Shaheed Minar bare footed and offer flowers and wreaths. The day inspires a person to love his mother language. the sprite of the day gives us strength and courage to defy any injustice.

Our National Flag

A national flag is the symbol of independence of a nation. Every nation has a flag of its own. Bangladesh has also a national flag. It is the symbol of our national integrity, solidarity and sovereignty. Our national flag is a piece of rectangular green cloth with a red round patch in the middle. The proportion of its length and breadth is 10:6. The green colour stands for everlasting youth and vigor of the nation as well as the evergreen forest of Bangladesh. The red colour is the symbol of the rising sun of independence. It also symbolizes the blood of our freedom fighters. The flag is hoisted everyday on the top of our important government buildings and educational institutions. It is hoisted everywhere on the Independence Day and the Victory Day. It is kept half mast on the national mourning days. We honour our national flag. We are proud of our national flag.

The national flag of a country is an emblematic(প্রতীকী) piece of cloth with a unique and special design that serves as a symbol of the country. Every nation in the world has its own national flag, which represents its independence and sovereignty(সার্বভৌমত্ব). Bangladesh, as an independent country, also has a national flag with a significant history and symbolism.
In 1971, Bangladesh achieved its independence after a long and bloody war that cost the lives of 30 lac martyrs. The national flag of Bangladesh is a green rectangle with a round red circle in the middle. The ratio of its length and breadth is 10:6, and the radius of the red circle is one-fifth of the length of the flag. The green colour of the flag represents the green fields and the youthful vigour of the country, while the red circle symbolizes the blood of the 30 lac martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The red circle also stands for the red sun of freedom and new hope for a new nation.
The national flag of Bangladesh is hoisted on the premises of every government office, institution, and organization in the country, and it is kept at half-mast on national mourning days.
